The Parks and Recreation alum—who shares children Matthew, 32, and John Owen, 30, with wife Sheryl Berkoff, 64—joked that the key to the perfect Father's Day starts with a little perspective.

"Here's the thing I learned about life. You've got to manage your expectations," Rob exclusively told E! News’ Erin Lim Rhodes at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles June 12. "If expectations are managed, you're more likely to be happy. I have very low expectations [for Father's Day]. I'll be happy with a card."

While the 62-year-old's holiday agenda with his kids and Sheryl—whom he married in 1991—is to be determined, Rob has ticked quality time with his own father off the to-do list.

"I got to spend some time with my dad. He lives in Ohio. I went back and saw him last weekend, and we had an early Father's Day," Rob shared, which is what prompted him to question, "What will my sons and my wife do for me?"

Should his family want to go above and beyond, the St. Elmo's Fire star came up with a few ideas for dream gifts.

Rob—who is serving as the Los Angeles Hospitality Captain for the World Cup this year—suggested that a "round of golf, guys night, sports tickets" are items he believes any dad out there would love to receive for the annual honor.

And this Father's Day will be one of many ways Rob gets to bond with his sons, both of whom he's worked with professionally over the years. While Matthew is a lawyer in California who appeared with his family on reality series The Lowe Files, Rob and his youngest co-created the Netflix comedy Unstable, in which they also costarred as a fictional father-son duo for two seasons.

Rob has felt "lucky" to work with his children on these projects, as he told E! News in 2024. And as John Owen explained, the feeling of gratitude for partaking in his father's legacy is mutual.

"My dad won’t be around forever," John Owen expressed on SiriusXM Radio show Andy Cohen Live in 2025, adding, "It’ll be amazing that we share this together. And it’s hard to work in the entertainment industry."
