Every upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie, TV show, and spinoff holds a lot of promise. Created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: The Last Airbender is widely regarded as one of the best animated shows of all time. The series ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon between 2005 and 2008, spawning spinoff comic book runs, the equally acclaimed sequel series The Legend of Korra, and a universally panned live-action film by M. Night Shyamalan.

Though the original series ended nearly two decades ago and early attempts at spinoffs proved less than perfect, Avatar: The Last Airbender's legacy has endured. The original series was adapted into a live-action show by Netflix in 2024. While it received mixed reviews, it was far more faithful to the animated show than M. Night Shyamalan's previous live-action film and earned a renewal from Netflix.

Paramount, the owners of Nickelodeon and the rights to The Last Airbender, also recently announced an entire slate of upcoming projects for the franchise. Alongside the 2D animated fighting video game Avatar Legends, which is set to be released on July 23, there are several more shows and a movie on the horizon for The Last Airbender fans to look forward to.

The next Avatar: The Last Airbender show set to be released is Netflix's live-action adaptation. The Last Airbender season 2 premieres on June 25, 2026, and Netflix has already confirmed that the series will be returning for The Last Airbender season 3. While the live-action show has made some significant changes to the animated version of The Last Airbender, it follows the same broad story beats as the original.

Because of that, we know that The Last Airbender season 2 will follow Aang (Gordon Cormier) as he begins to learn Earth bending in his quest to master all four elements and stop the Fire Nation. Netflix has also confirmed that the vast majority of the live-action cast of The Last Airbender is returning for season 2 alongside new addition Toph Beifong (Miyako), Aang's Earth bending teacher.

Netflix has also revealed quite a bit of information about The Last Airbender season 3, which is set to be the final installment of the adaptation in keeping with the original series. The Last Airbender season 3 has already finished filming (via Tudum), meaning fans likely won't have to wait long for more episodes, unlike the two-year gap between seasons 1 and 2. The show has also already cast actors to play Piandao, Sokka's swordsmanship instructor, and Hama, the woman who teaches Katara blood bending.

One of the most exciting yet troubled upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movies is Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. A sequel to the original animated show set to depict Team Avatar as adults, Legend of Aang has long been highly anticipated by fans of the franchise. The movie is set to fill in some of the gaps left behind by The Legend of Korra's time jump and show the Gaang at the height of their power and influence.

New images showcasing adult Team Avatar have surfaced, days after The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender's director confirmed production had wrapped.

Unfortunately, Legend of Aang has also been the subject of a real-world crisis. In April 2026, Legend of Aang was leaked online after a hack on Vision Media, a screening company. Untold thousands of viewers saw the film before its planned premiere on Paramount+ on October 9. Additionally, the film was originally planned to premiere in theaters before Paramount was acquired by Skydance, and it's now set to be a streaming original.

Legend of Aang's data leak has, however, provided some insight into the film's premise. Reportedly, Legend of Aang follows the adult versions of Team Avatar as they discover an ancient airbender named Tagah and help him on a quest to the Spirit World. Aside from that unofficial synopsis, Paramount has revealed that the cast of Legend of Aang will be replacing original voice actors, reportedly with celebrity voices instead.

After Legend of Aang, Avatar Studios has another animated sequel series in the works. Avatar: Seven Havens is a confirmed follow-up to The Legend of Korra focusing on the next Avatar in the cycle of rebirth, an Earth bender named Pavi. The state of the world in Seven Havens is described as "post-apocalyptic," with citizens viewing the Avatar as a destroyer rather than a force for peace, which indicates it will be a very different show.

While confirmed details about Seven Havens are sparse, Paramount has released an official image of the series, and it's projected to premiere in 2027. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators of the original series, are also confirmed as overseeing Avatar Studios as a whole and the story and creation of Seven Havens. DiMartino and Konietzko also released a joint statement about the upcoming series.

When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!

Aside from those comments, a broad plot synopsis, and an official image, not much is officially confirmed about Seven Havens so far. Whether it lasts several seasons, where its story will take Pavi, and who will be voicing the newest Avatar are all currently unknown variables. Regardless, thanks to Seven Havens and other shows and movies, Avatar: The Last Airbender has a bright future ahead of it.
