FromSoftware fans have been in a bit of a panicked state lately for several reasons, primarily due to the lack of an officially confirmed new single-player, open-world title to serve as a true follow-up game for fans of Elden Ring. While the studio's upcoming The Duskbloods release just got an official closed network test announcement, the title has automatically lost a huge swath of FromSoft fans due to its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusivity.

With recent rumors circulating about a potential new FromSoft project codenamed "Project FMC," fans have been on high alert. And while many Soulsborne enthusiasts had their fingers crossed for a major reveal at the recent State of Play, they were sorely disappointed, as FromSoft was nowhere to be found, despite the event being packed with other huge game announcements.

However, after a completely random and unexpected update courtesy of FromSoft president Hidetaka Miyazaki, there's a completely new game in the works (via Denfaminico Gamer).

According to a recent update from Miyazaki in response to a question related to his thoughts on the current state of the gaming industry and pressures/cost of releasing new titles, the studio head issued the following statement directly to FromSoft supporters and fans (via Reddit):

[If] our users happen to read this message, we want to assure you that we will continue to work harder than ever to create truly valuable games. We hope you will look forward to our upcoming titles, both those already announced and those yet to be announced.

The statement more or less confirms that FromSoft has at least one (and possibly multiple) unannounced titles in the pipeline, despite being relatively vague otherwise. Aside from acknowledging unannounced titles in the works and a potential new game reveal coming soon, Miyazaki's comments have confirmed that the studio is not succumbing to industry pressures to pump out games faster or haphazardly.

While the specifics of the aforementioned unannounced titles are still unavailable, it's entirely possible that Miyazaki is giving fans a nod to the heavily rumored Project FMC, which has been the subject to great speculation in recent months after an apparent leak suggested it could possibly be a naval-based single-player Soulsborne entry.

Ultimately, while there isn't much to go on, Miyazaki's acknowledgment of at least one unannounced new game will come as extremely welcome news to fans who were somewhat underwhelmed by Elden Ring Nightreign and the reveal of the upcoming The Duskbloods for Switch 2.

Despite FromSoftware fans likely already assuming the studio has other projects in the works, this is the first official acknowledgment we've gotten that confirms something completely new is on the way, and may be coming sooner than we expected.
