The Legend of Zelda has been through more eras over the years than almost any franchise, and not all of them have been as successful as Nintendo was intending. Arguably the most controversial of all at the time of release was Wind Waker, with the cartoon style proving to be the opposite of what fans wanted, and expected, at that time.
Twilight Princess scratched that proverbial itch when it came along, though, and time has been very kind in improving Wind Waker's reputation in the eyes of fans. Underneath the cel-shaded style (which is also a lot more popular these days) is arguably one of the best games in the series from a gameplay perspective, and Nintendo could do a lot worse than returning to it in some form.
If you are, or were, a fan of Wind Waker specifically, there is a new release that you should absolutely be aware of, and it's one of the coolest items for a physical collection that we have seen to date.
Over on the KaioLand website, there's a new physical release tied to Wind Waker that really nails the climactic moment of the game. Kintsukuroi Creations Studio Final Battle Diorama is a resin statue that recreates the last battle that players take on, as a team alongside Zelda herself.
It's a highly detailed model for what it is, with Zelda drawing a bow to fire an arrow at Ganondorf, while Link leaps towards him with sword and shield. It's also pretty big, being designed at a 1:4 scale that leaves the final model coming in at a pretty staggering 60cmx60cmx50cm.
If that sounds a little too gargantuan for your home setup, there is a smaller 1:6 version of the same statue available, which will end up being around 40cm tall. The only caveat to that potential good time is that neither of the resin models comes cheap, listed for $908.96 and $1,157.79 for the smaller and larger versions, respectively.
The models are available to pre-order right now, with shipping expected to go ahead in Q4 of 2026, though delays are possible depending on finalized designs and supplier availability.
Securing one of those statues for your Zelda collection could be the perfect way to mark 40 years of the franchise at home. Even if it is a little too expensive (it certainly is in my house), at least we all have the big Ocarina of Time remake reveal to look forward to, ahead of that releasing later this year.
