Christopher Nolan is one of the biggest directors in the history of Hollywood, while Scarlett Johansson is one of its most prolific stars. Soon, fans can (re)watch one of their many career-defining projects on a new platform.

Both Nolan and Johansson, in different ways, are synonymous with the Hollywood action blockbuster. Nolan is famous for sweeping epics with massive, intricate visuals as well as skilled storytelling that has made him a regular at the Oscars. His filmography includes The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, and finally winning him a golden statuette, Oppenheimer.

Johansson is best known for her Marvel Cinematic Universe tenure as Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow, but she has also starred in other action flicks as well as a variety of critical darlings, including Lost in Translation, Her, Marriage Story, and Jojo Rabbit. Nolan and Johansson are not immediately associated with each other, but they collaborated on a key movie earlier in both their careers.

Nolan's fifth directorial feature, The Prestige, premiered in 2006 and will soon be moving to a new streaming home, Peacock, on July 1, 2026. Alongside Johansson, the steampunk thriller stars Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, and Michael Caine, with Rebecca Hall and Andy Serkis in supporting roles. Though it is not Nolan's best movie, it is maybe his most underrated.

The Prestige follows two Victorian-era magicians engaged in a battle of wits and magic tricks after they are affected by the same tragedy. Nolan, at the time, had established a strong filmography with Memento, Batman Begins, and Insomnia, but he would be launched to new heights after The Prestige through The Dark Knight and Inception.

At the same time, Johansson had achieved international recognition through Lost in Translation, but had yet to become a blockbuster superstar, with her MCU debut in Iron Man 2 a few years in the future. For both director and star, The Prestige was something of a stopover before they went on to bigger things. Additionally, the pair has not collaborated on another movie since, though The Prestige actors Bale and Caine became stars of the Dark Knight trilogy.

Nolan is set to dominate the summer blockbuster season once again with The Odyssey arriving on July 17, featuring Johansson's fellow MCU stars Tom Holland and Zendaya as well as her future The Batman: Part II co-star Robert Pattinson, among many other A-listers. The highly anticipated action epic is an adaptation of Homer's poem of the same name, a key saga in Greek mythology.

But before this movie event, those who want to be well-versed in Nolan's filmography should check out or revisit his forgotten period piece, starring one of the defining stars of a generation. The Prestige will be available to stream on Peacock from July 1, 2026.
