Ciara Miller and Tefi Pessoa are the co-hosts of Love Island USA Aftersun, and both have taken to social media to push back on criticism from the passionate fanbase.
The weekly Love Island USA companion talk show changed formats this season, with Miller and Pessoa sharing their hot takes on all the drama inside the villa. Both Miller and Pessoa have fun giving their opinions and recapping what they see as Season 8 of the Peacock dating series unravels.
With the tension in the villa growing and reaching a boiling point following Casa Amor, Miller and Pessoa faced backlash over their takes on the latest Aftersun episode, which streamed on Saturday, June 26.
The latest episode of Love Island USA saw the Casa Amor results, with Aniya choosing to stay single in hopes that her couple, KC, would do the same. However, KC chose to couple up with Casa Amor bombshell Tierra, and things kicked off in the main villa. Fans of the dating series have sided with Aniya and cast KC as a villain, but Miller and Pessoa gave a more nuanced perspective on the switchup. This did not bode well with the Love Island USA fanbase and Miller and Pessoa took to social media to defend their stance.
“I’m not an executive producer on the show & while me and [Ciara] can suggest ideas, we do not have access to footage or voting or anything like that,” Pessoa posted on Threads. “We filmed this last episode from 3:30pm-9:45pm!”

She continued, “Every [episode] we are called too biased and then too unbiased, that we support the women too much and then we are too hard on them. Then we are inundated with being male-centered and then man-haters. we cannot please everyone because we are human. thank you for watching!”
The Summer House star also shared her thoughts on Threads, posting, “You guys need to fucking relax. We film for 6 hours. Perspectives get left on the cutting room floor. I could psychoanalyze all of LI for hours and write a dissertation on black people/colorism on reality TV. Don’t talk to me about how I ‘fail’ to see any person of color’s perspective or how I need more ’empathy.’ I’ve quite literally lived it.”
Love Island USA Aftersun has gained more attention this year with new hosts Ciara Miller and Tefi Pessoa. The revamped companion weekly talk show saw a 144% increase in audience from Season 7 at its debut, with viewers curious to see the new format.
