The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era is set to receive a massive new expansion this winter with Heroes of Tamriel. The expansion set from Chip Theory Games' and Zenimax Online for the immersive multiplayer tabletop game Betrayal of the Second Era is getting five new add-ons, expected to ship to backers in November and hit general retail storefronts in December.
While the base game for Betrayal of the Second Era has been available since 2025, these new expansions were recently made available in a new gameplay bundle and will add hours of content to the existing board game. The five expansions are available to purchase individually, or can be bundled together along with the base game or just the expansion packs themselves. Each one of these individual expansions includes new quests, enemies, classes, adventurer race variants, skill lines, items, and more, taking players on new adventures across various locations in The Elder Scrolls universe. The base game itself is absolutely massive, and includes hundreds of different types of dice, chips, and tokens, several adventure mats for 1–4 players, and everything else you need to dive into a truly unique Elder Scrolls experience.
If you're new to the game, The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era is a cooperative campaign board game for 1–4 players set during the Second Era of Tamriel, around the time of The Elder Scrolls Online. Players create unique adventurers, explore an open world, complete quests, join guilds, battle enemies, and develop their characters through skills and equipment.
Rather than a traditional TTRPG, it is a story-driven board game with RPG mechanics and no Game Master, offering a persistent campaign where choices and progression carry across multiple sessions. These new Heroes of Tamriel expansions offer players a range of new options in terms of character-building, and are sure to keep players busy while they wait for new updates on The Elder Scrolls 6.
