One of the worst elements of Genshin Impact may be getting yet another nerf, and players may want to avoid it altogether. HoYoverse’s hit RPG is going through big transformations every year. Not only are new characters introduced, changing the meta, but they also impact the foundation of gameplay mechanics. An example of this is with the Lunar-based reactions, such as those seen with Columbina or Nicole in Genshin Impact. Now, more changes are inbound, but they may actually be negative.

There have been a few leaks about the new playable character in Version 6.7, Sandrone, and the rumors indicate that she will bring forth a new elemental reaction variation, called Stellar, which revolves around Cryo, much like how Lunar revolves around Hydro. A new leak by HXG, shared by IS_Mythix on Reddit, highlights that two characters who were expected to have the reaction have now had the wording involving the Stellar reactions removed from their kits.

According to the leak, both Diona and Qiqi were planned to have Cryo Swirl reactions in their kit in the upcoming Genshin Impact 6.7 update, which would trigger the aforementioned Stellar reactions. However, it seems like the text including that potential reaction variation will not be included in the gameplay kits for these older characters – at least not for now. Cryo has been one of the most problematic reactions in the game so far, and Stellar reaction variations are promising.

Cryo is a fun element to run, but its options are a bit limited, and the reactions it triggers aren’t too strong. There are standout characters like Wriothesley, Citlali, and Skirk in Genshin Impact, but it’s a bit tough to justify a Cryo-based team in endgame activities, where other reactions reign stronger – even when the buffs are centered around Cryo. The Stellar reaction variation, however, has the potential to revitalize Cryo in its entirety, but it seems like players will have to wait a bit more.

The general suspicion is that, while Stellar reactions will be introduced with Sandrone in Version 6.7, centering around Stellar-Conduct, a variation of a reaction triggered by the interaction of Cryo and Electro, the larger variations will be held back for the arrival of Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact 7.0. After all, players will be heading into the Nation of Cryo, and the element may be fully buffed.

For now, the leaks should be taken with a huge grain of salt, as they are still highly subject to change, and while it does seem like neither Diona or Qiqi will get buffed in Version 6.7, there is a lot in store for the future. We’ll likely be getting a glimpse of Stellar reactions with Sandrone in Genshin Impact pretty soon, and then we’ll be hoping for the best for Cryo in Version 7.0.
