Taking elements from two of the biggest games of all time (at least in my opinion) and crafting them into something special takes a lot of skill. But a recent tech demo from Unreal shows that one future game is shaping up nicely. A neon-soaked near future cityscape where you take on the role of a character who's been on both sides of the law sounds awfully familiar. No Law looks to pull concepts and gameplay elements from Cyberpunk 2077 and Grand Theft Auto VI and if the visuals are anything to go by...this is going to be epic.

The Unreal Fest Chicago 2026 recently showed off the graphics engine prowess, but one game on display stole the show. No Law looks like a denser and fully realized version of Cyberpunk 2077. From the slums to the high-rise elitist areas, the map really flexes the diversity and creativity on offer in Port Desire, the fictional setting for No Law. The Cyberpunk 2077 and Grand Theft Auto vibes are instant in this exaggerated parody world that mimics our own.

In No Law, you play as Grey Harker, a former military man who is seeking a quiet life after a near fatal injury. Jaded by corporate corruption and living in the slums, it won't be long before trouble comes to find you. Deciding which side of the law to stay on will lead to plenty of moral decisions and the developer promises multiple choice situations with different outcomes depending on your choices.

At its heart, No Law is a first-person shooter with a world setting and aesthetics very similar to Cyberpunk 2077. The recent tech demo showed off rather impressive physics and visual flair that look just as good as the brief glimpses we've had of Grand Theft Auto VI. From particle effects, realistic debris, dynamic weather and day/night cycles and the capabilities to render over 3,000 characters at once, the game is shaping up nicely.

With Grand Theft Auto VI fast approaching, it's nice to know that we still have other amazing games to look forward to, like No Law after the credits roll. Also, with none of us really knowing when a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will land, No Law might be the perfect stop gap while we wait to hear more. Currently, No Law doesn't have an official release date, but if the tech demo is anything to go by, the game is rather far along its development path.

With the big companies not playing nice recently and keeping their first party games as exclusives, it's nice to see a multiplatform game like this with such high quality and production value. No Law will hopefully take everything we love about Cyberpunk 2077 and the GTA franchise and give gamers something truly special to get their teeth into. After Grand Theft Auto VI launches in November, No Law might be the next big reason to stay excited about gaming.
