Netflix has already announced that its thrilling action series, The Night Agent, will end with its upcoming fourth season, allowing the show to wrap up the story with one last installment. Yet that announcement also left viewers wondering how the series could continue following its greatest shake-up. In Season 3, The Night Agent wrote out one of its main characters, and as the conclusion nears, fans couldn't help but wonder whether Rose (Luciane Buchanan) would return for the series' end. Luckily, we don't have to wait for the show's return for that answer, as Netflix has confirmed, per Deadline, that Buchanan will reprise her role in Season 4.

While not a total surprise, as she is one of the show's most significant characters, Rose's return is exciting news, building anticipation for the final installment and hopefully allowing the final season to reach its full potential. Though Buchanan will be back, the streamer has yet to reveal how significant a role Rose will play in the final season, but even so, her involvement is reassuring. Although Season 3's choice to write Rose out worked well for the story, her continued significance to Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) makes this return the best news fans could hope for from The Night Agent's final season.

Realistically, The Night Agent Season 4 needs Rose to reach a satisfactory conclusion. After all, she is the one who started it all by calling Peter and insisting that she would only trust him throughout Season 1, slowly pulling him deeper into the greater conspiracy. This journey allowed Peter to both prove his skill and ultimately earn the promotion that positioned him at the center of the series, none of which would have happened without Rose. Given her importance, it only makes sense for the series finale to come full circle by bringing her back.

That said, Rose is more than just a catalyst for the series' action. For the first two seasons, she and Peter grew closer, forcing him to question his career goals while she proved herself a capable ally. Their bond and the role she plays in Peter's journey make it clear that The Night Agent can't conclude without addressing their relationship. Though not much information about The Night Agent Season 4 has been revealed, Rose's involvement is a significant piece of the puzzle, whatever role she plays. The series could bring her back for a brief cameo to resolve her and Peter's relationship, or she could resume her position as a series lead. Season 3's ending hints at a new partner for Peter, implying that he won't be the only central character in the final season. Regardless of how it happens, Rose's return is necessary for the story, and the show's recent announcement proves that the creators agree.

In most cases, the return of a series' central character wouldn't require a formal announcement, yet The Night Agent is an exception because Rose never appeared in the third season. Despite the shock of her character being written out, Rose never fully disappears from the narrative. In fact, she continues to haunt Peter throughout Season 3, as he struggles with the loneliness of his job.

That said, Rose's absence from The Night Agent Season 3 works surprisingly well. Her separation from Peter allowed the series to try something different while providing him a chance to grow and discover what he wanted. Not forcing Rose in when she didn't really fit helped Season 3's story, despite the risk of losing Buchanan for future seasons. Showrunner Shawn Ryan was clear from the beginning that her return was a possibility, and fortunately, it worked out for the series finale. These days, endings seem cursed to disappoint someone, but with Rose back, The Night Agent is one step closer to delivering a satisfying finale for fans.
