A newly announced RPG will please fans of CRPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Disco Elysium, though with a slightly darker touch. CRPGs and turn-based games are back on the rise, a lot of which is thanks to the success of recent fantasy games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and many others. The genre is going to expand even more soon, with the arrival of a new title that already looks promising, despite not having an expected release date.
The new game in question was announced during the PC Gaming Show 2026 event. The title has not yet been released, nor does it have a slated release date. This new RPG was a considerably big announcement last week, but it may have flown under your radar. If you’re a fan of Baldur’s Gate 3 and CRPGs in general, you may want to pay attention to this upcoming title.
The promising new RPG on Steam is called Vampire: The Masquerade - Eternal Whispers, and it is already listed on Steam. Developed by Flyos and published by Kwalee, the indie CRPG is set in the World of Darkness universe, which includes the Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocalypse series, though this game is centered mostly around the former. Contrary to Bloodlines 2, which was an action RPG, this will be a narrative RPG with different types of approaches.
In a sense, Eternal Whispers will be a lot more like the recent Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. The new game will be set in a dark, yet modern interpretation of Montreal, and players will be forced into a story involving political intrigue, secrets, and horrors. The choices that you make will help guide the story through various paths. Eternal Whispers is being heavily inspired by the Vampire: The Masquerade TTRPG.
Even though there are several similarities with Baldur’s Gate 3, the game draws heavily from Disco Elysium, the hit 2019 narrative-driven CRPG. This has been confirmed by creative director Gary Paitre in a press release. In fact, you’ll even be controlling a vampire who awakens with fractured memories, not unlike the protagonist of Disco Elysium, whose name shall not be revealed to avoid spoilers.
With its branching narrative paths and various possibilities, which do not end, even when you fail, Vampire: The Masquerade - Eternal Whispers already seems extremely promising.
