Stargate is a military science fiction franchise owned by Amazon MGM Studios that revolves around alien technology that is capable of opening wormholes that allow people to travel throughout the galaxy. The franchise kicked off with the titular 1994 film. The property has grown significantly since the movie's debut and now includes live-action TV shows, animated projects, and has even stepped into the world of comic books.

A familiar face from the Stargate franchise has expressed his opinion regarding the growing campaign to revive the series before Amazon MGM decided not to move forward with the project. Figures such as Michael Shanks, who played Dr. Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: The Ark of Truth, and Stargate: Continuum and several producers recently defended Martin Gero's idea for a TV show.

Now, Robert Patrick, who portrayed Colonel Marshall Sumner in Stargate: Atlantis, has joined the conversation, voicing his support and explaining his appreciation for the franchise, as well as the opportunities it provided him. He shared several posts on X telling fans of the franchise that he understood why they wanted a new Stargate TV series and how he was completely behind them. Patrick even posted an online petition for his followers to share and sign.

Patrick's character, Marshall Sumner, initially appeared in Stargate: Atlantis' two-part pilot episode. He was the original military commander of the Atlantis expedition before the Wraith kidnapped and murdered him. Although his character died, he returned to reprise his role in the first season's eighth episode, "Before I Sleep," where he appears in an alternate timeline.

Along the way, they face the Wraith, a deadly alien race that drains the life out of humans. The series also stars
