Amazon‘s Prime Video has opted not to renew the animated series Kevin, about a cat who moves into a pet rescue in Queens after his humans break up and bonds with the other animals, according to co-creator Aubrey Plaza.

Plaza shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, calling the decision “very disappointing since we were just getting going.”

“I want to say thank you to all the fans that watched our show and all of the incredible cast and crew that worked so hard to make this dream come alive,” she wrote. “I remember on the early days of Parks & Rec when we all thought we would be cancelled because our ratings weren’t great. Our numbers. But we had some special humans over at NBC that believed in the show and let us grow and let audiences fall in love with our characters.”

She added, reflecting on changes in the TV business: “I was hoping for this for Kevin but sadly we are living in a different time in our industry. I hope the machines won’t ruin everything. Maybe Kevin will find a new owner someday. Love you all very much. Meow.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to a rep for Prime Video for comment.

The series, co-created by Plaza, who also lends her voice to the series as one of Kevin’s humans, and Joe Wengert, who served as showrunner, stars Jason Schwartzman as the voice of the titular cat. Other stars who lent their voices to the series include Whoopi Goldberg, John Waters, Amy Sedaris and Aparna Nancherla.

In her review, The Hollywood Reporter‘s Angie Han called it “An amiable hangout comedy, with a feline twist.”

All eight episodes of the series debuted on Prime Video on April 20.

Plaza also executive produced Kevin alongside Dan Murphy, Chris Prynoski, Ben Kalina, Shannon Prynoski and Antonio Canobbio. The series was produced by Titmouse, Evil Hag Productions and Amazon MGM Studio.
