Matt Damon is still eager to reprise his role in the Bourne franchise.
The Bourne movie franchise follows Jason Bourne (Damon), a CIA assassin who is dealing with dissociative amnesia. As he begins to rediscover himself, he also has to fight for his life as corrupt government officials and the people who trained him to become a ruthless killer are actively hunting him down.
Damon is the star of one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. However, he hasn’t ruled out returning to one of his most iconic roles, CIA agent. The actor revealed to Parade magazine that he remains both interested and very hopeful about stepping back into the world of the titular assassin and confirmed that a new sequel is being discussed.
According to Damon, the creative team behind the film series is exploring new ideas for another installment because of their love for the character and IP as a whole. While no solid plans have been announced, he explained that they are seriously considering making another Bourne movie, and it's more than just an idea that is being floated around.

Damon wanting to return to the Bourne franchise doesn't come as a huge surprise. The actor has been in every single movie of the series except for the fourth film, The Bourne Legacy (2012), when a new character, Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), was introduced. However, he returned in 2016 for the franchise's most recent movie, Jason Bourne.
While the actor's comments are optimistic, fans of Bourne should take the update with a grain of salt. Discussions of another sequel have been happening since November 2016. Unfortunately, every time an update was provided about an upcoming movie, the details were always vague and nothing ever really came of it.
The most recent announcement before Damon's interview was in October 2024, when it was reported that a sixth film was in the works. Production Weekly claimed that a sixth movie titled The Bourne Dilemma was in development, and Edward Berger was attached as the director. However, when Berger was asked to comment, he revealed that he was unsure whether he'd be involved. And, nothing about the film has been confirmed since then.
There is no confirmation of a new Bourne movie at the time of this article's publication.
