Just before Disney breaks all kinds of records this weekend with Pixar’s Toy Story 5 this weekend, they can celebrate taking 20th Century Studios’ The Devil Wears Prada franchise past the $1 billion mark.

The sequel, now in its seventh week, counts $676M at the global box office with $217.9M from domestic alone. The pic before global P&A cost $100M to make. The original 2006 comedy based on Lauren Weisberger’s New York Times bestselling novel finaled at $326.5M in reported currency.

Nostalgia, especially when well done a second time around, means mountains at the box office, a tremendous amount to moviegoers. Devil Wears Prada was always chearished by female moviegoers, and part 2 here brought together the series original director David Frankel, scribe Aline Brosh McKenna and stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt. Disney, ever the iconoclast tentpole studio, opted not to open summer with a Marvel movie, rather Devil Wears Prada 2 to an enormous $233M worldwide and $76.7M domestic — both franchise highs.

Within the sequel’s first nine days of release stateside, it surpassed the lifetime of the first movie which finale at $124.7M.

Devil Wears Prada 2 is the No. 4 MPA global release YTD where Disney has released three of the top six. Stateside, it’s the No. 4 domestic release YTD where Disney owns three of the top seven. With an offshore gross of $458.1M, Devil Wears Prada 2 is the No. 3 MPA International release YTD. The original movie’s offshore gross was in reported dollars, $201.8M.

With $37.3M in Italy, the pic is the No. 1 non-local movie in Italy. That’s also the sequel’s second highest territory behind UK ($45.8M). Devil Wears Prada 2 is also the second non-local release of 2026 to date in Australia ($29.5M), Japan ($31.9M) and Brazil ($33.2M).

Germany is the third highest grossing territory with $33.2M. Other top grossing markets include Mexico ($29.4M), France ($26.9M), China ($15.3M) and Spain ($12.8M).
