The PlayStation 5 is undoubtedly a great console, and though it could do with a few more releases this year, it's an extremely reliable home console that really delivers on everything it promises to. The early days of the PlayStation 1 and 2 were very much all about the console itself, but as we've made our way through the years, it has become much more of an overall package.

As part of that, Sony has regularly released additional hardware to improve the playing experience of those enjoying games on the console. Whether it be the convenience offered by a PlayStation Portal, or a simple headset for talking to friends, you can pretty easily pick up a full gaming setup using only products made by the company.

Now, the next batch of those is set to release, and they'll all be here a lot sooner than you may expect.

Over on the official PlayStation blog, the company confirmed the upcoming release of several premium peripherals for gamers, and it has to be said that it looks like they've done a great job this time around.

The first is the FlexStrike wireless fight stick, which is set to launch on August 6, to coincide with the upcoming arrival of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. It's designed to be more portable than other options, so if you're the type to regularly head to fighting game tournaments, then it could be a great choice. It also comes with a relatively standard carry case to assist in that purpose.

They also confirmed they are releasing a 27’’ Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook on August 27 in the USA and Japan, featuring a QHD IPS display (2560×1440) with VRR, supporting up to 120Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and up to 240Hz on a compatible PC or Mac. As such, it should be a solid solution if you're looking for a quick switch between gaming PC and PS5, though we will need more details on the port setup.

Last, and possibly least, Sony is also dropping Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers, which feature much the same technology used in the existing Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite headsets. Those are further away from release than the other two items revealed at the same time, though they are still intended to release this year, all being well.

Prices are being held in reserve right now, aside from for the fight stick, for which pre-orders are now live at $199.99/€199.99/£179.99/¥34,980. It's also a solid sign that Sony isn't planning to move on from the PS5 any time soon, with many now not expecting the next console until at least 2029.
