Grand Theft Auto 6 is, and will be for quite some time, just about the only thing people can talk about. It's a huge new release, one that will undoubtedly top the charts and dominate the market for quite some time. Practically everyone will be playing it at launch, with even a handful of controversies seemingly doing little to deter players from pre-ordering it. However, the operative word there is "practically", as not everyone will be able to get their hands on GTA 6 on day one.

Amazingly, there is currently no PC port confirmed for GTA 6, meaning potentially millions, if not tens of millions, of people are locked out of playing the game. Naturally, one can play it on either PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, but that is dependent on owning either console. Fortunately, there's potentially a new unexpected port on the cards that could solve this problem for a lot of people, and it would be a huge deal if it manages to release.

There is, allegedly, a Nintendo Switch 2 port of GTA 6 that will release sometime after launch day. This is something that has been rumored and speculated about ad nauseam, with many merely curious to see if Rockstar could somehow get the game running on Nintendo's hybrid system. However, according to a fairly reliable insider, this port is very much real, in development, and has miraculously overcome a lot of the technical hurdles one would expect it to hit.

The news comes from insider Nash Weedle, who posted to X that the Switch 2 port does indeed exist and that "specialists in Switch 2 ports have been brought in via subcontract" to work on it. However, it seems the port requires work, as, according to Weedle's sources, "it won’t arrive this year." Naturally, a Switch 2 port would mean that players wouldn't need to play it on PS5, which is supposedly the best place to play GTA 6, or Xbox Series X/S, giving potentially anyone who doesn't own multiple consoles a shot at experiencing it sooner.

Of course, this leak should be taken with a rather large grain of salt. While Weedle is an insider, they cite other insiders who could corroborate their information, but never say who they are. Rockstar has also not confirmed a Switch 2 port, and Nintendo hasn't teased one either. One would likely be announced during a major Nintendo Direct, which would necessitate a new trailer, so it's unlikely, if it even exists, that it'll be revealed until after GTA 6's trailer 3.

Regardless, it feels like the Nintendo Switch 2 could handle something as technically complex as Grand Theft Auto 6. Recent ports like Assassin's Creed Shadows and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have showcased just how surprisingly powerful the console is. Of course, GTA 6 would need to be downgraded to run on Nintendo's hybrid console, but it is hard to imagine Rockstar wanting to skip it considering how popular the original Switch was. It remains to be seen whether Grand Theft Auto 6 gets a Switch 2 port, but it would be hugely beneficial to players if it did.
