The potential release date for Pokémon Winds and Waves has seemingly leaked, and players may already want to mark their calendars so that they can set aside some time to play the first entries of Generation 10. The new titles in the classic Nintendo series were officially announced in early 2026, following a few leaks about what they could look like. We’ve already seen a few Pikachu variants and the starters for Pokémon Winds and Waves, as well as some returning creatures.

Neither Nintendo nor Game Freak has revealed exactly when the new titles will be released for Nintendo Switch 2, apart from the 2027 release window, but that may have just changed. According to a report by ComicBook, which talks about a leak from Centro Leaks, a more precise release window for Winds and Waves has just been established – at least internally. For reference, Centro has been a prominent source of reliable leaks in the past, revealing details from Scarlet and Violet and Legends: Z-A, so there is some credit to the new information.

According to the leak, the internal release date for Pokémon Winds and Waves is set for September 2027, narrowing the release window from a full year down to a single month. Of course, it is worth noting that the leaks have not determined on which day the games will land, nor if this is the definitive period for the game, since it is an internal release schedule. While the leaks say that, internally, the plan is for the game to arrive in September, this is subject to change and could be different in the final version.

For now, as reliable as the leaker may be, it’s best to take the reports with a grain of salt, especially because a lot of what happens internally does not represent what happens in plain sight of players. Moreover, the September release window leak for Winds and Waves would represent the end of a decade-long tradition – since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, November has been the release month for core Pokémon games.

While Nintendo does not provide more specific information, which should only really be revealed in the months to come, if not February 2027, most of the details about the games are mere speculation. There has been debate about the price tag on Pokémon Winds and Waves ahead of the pre-order reveal, which also stems from leaks and is fueling rage from players.

At the moment, what is most reliable is the bundle of leaks talking about how the titles will have a hybrid gameplay system, mixing above-ground exploration, as usual, with the return to underwater gameplay, as was leaked and then teased with the first trailer. There’s a lot to look out for with Pokémon Winds and Waves as they kick off Gen 10 on a brand-new and better-performing hardware system.
