Grand Theft Auto 6 was always going to be a large game, but fans were likely wondering just how big its map would be. GTA has always been a little bit about excess, with Grand Theft Auto 5 sporting an astonishingly large map for players to cause as much chaos and carnage as possible within; so, it will come as no surprise that its successor, GTA 6, is absolutely following the same route. However, it has only been recently that we've had any confirmation of just how big the map will be.

As the controversies surrounding GTA 6 and the tension among fans continue to speedily head toward boiling point, the leaks and information mill continues to churn. This means that, for those who are still planning on playing the game at launch despite Rockstar's questionable business practices, there have been an abundance of leaks and new pieces of information circulating online about the game and, specifically, its map size.

The Amazon listing for Grand Theft Auto 6, in Brazil, had a number of key pieces of information regarding just how big the game's world would be. In its description, which has seemingly since been altered to remove these details, it discussed the numerous different types of locations players could visit, explaining that players will "explore Vice City, beaches, swamps, small towns, and various regions of Leonida." Naturally, this is still a little vague, but the mention of "various regions of Leonida" certainly points to a huge map with plenty of environmental diversity.

However, Brazilian retailer Kabum, which also has the game listed for pre-order, included even more details about the game's size in its listing (which has also since been altered). It described the game's map as "the most massive, dense, and insane map ever created by Rockstar Games," which is great news for those who have paid for all the content locked behind GTA 6's Ultimate edition, as they'll be able to access every shop spread across the enormous map. It explained further that players will:

"Traverse the neon-lit streets of a pulsating Vice City, dominate dangerous swamps, crowded beaches, and realistic suburbs that cover the state of Leonida from end to end. Every inch of the scenery has been designed to deliver brutal immersion and total freedom.”

It isn't radically different from the Amazon listing, but it does hone in on the idea that GTA 6's map will be enormous. Of course, all of this information should be taken with a large grain of salt. This isn't information confirmed by Rockstar, and the developer hasn't released an official map for players to gauge just how big it is visually. Considering the disparity between the descriptors on either site, it would appear that there is some level of creative liberty being taken by the website's copywriters. It is also possible that there are some translation issues at hand.

Regardless, it would be rather surprising if Grand Theft Auto 6 ended up being smaller than its predecessor, especially considering just how much Rockstar is attempting to cram into the experience. One has to hope that the game will be well optimized across all platforms for it to handle such an enormous world, although recent details about GTA 6's quick load times seem to imply it probably is. It remains to be seen exactly what the square footage of Grand Theft Auto 6's map will be, but rest assured that it will be enormous at the very least.
