For many, Dark Souls 3 is considered to be the best in the beloved FromSoftware trilogy, not only marking a celebratory finish to the epic series, but also bringing together the best of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 in one condensed finale.

Released back in 2016, Dark Souls 3 celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, but much like every other FromSoftware title, its popularity has not dwindled with thousands of fans still flocking to the RPG after all these years. However, with graphics looking better each year and next-gen remakes being all the rage, it is no surprise that Dark Souls 3 has had its name thrown into the remaster hat.

There is no denying that Dark Souls 3 is already stunning, and definitely stands the test of time. Unlike Dark Souls, which was in desperate need of a remaster, Dark Souls 3 still looks and performs well and, I don't know about you, but I would rather FromSoftware work on a brand-new release than yet another remaster.

That is why the 4K Embered mod collection pack over on Nexus Mods is the perfect middle ground, as it offers everything you would need to improve the graphics of Dark Souls 3, whilst not bothering FromSoftware in the meantime. Curated by user KnightZ07, the mod collection consists of six separate mods that each come together to create the one-stop-shop for an unofficial Dark Souls 3 remaster.

The mods included consist of Expanded Shadows, Shadowcasting Light Source, Upscaled Environment Textures, High Resolution Archdragon Peak, Upscaled Armors and Weapons, and Firelink Set Retexture. Each works on different areas of the game's graphics, such as adding shadows, improving light sources, and making any in-game textures a lot more crisp.

By installing the 4K Embered mod pack, you will automatically receive all six mods in one easy package, but of course, you can also download each mod separately if you are not a fan of all of them. Additionally, if you are new to modding and are unsure on how to install the pack, the official mod page has all the instructions you need.

This is just thousands of mods available for Dark Souls 3, and yet another reason why we are not in desperate need for a remaster. Bloodborne, on the other hand...

Nevertheless, with FromSoftware hard at work on the finishing touches for both Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and the brand-new Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, we can only imagine what will be next for the Souls franchise. For now, at least, we can dive back into Dark Souls 3 and experience it like never before.
