The release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 Online has been formally pushed back following an official announcement by Rockstar Games. The company recently revealed tons of details about the upcoming game, including the pre-order details, version bonuses, and, of course, the official prices for GTA 6. The game feels more tangible than ever, especially with the pre-order period right around the corner, but there is one aspect about the game that won’t be arriving alongside the single-player experience, which is the beloved online multiplayer mode.

According to a report by GamesRadar, the release of GTA 6 Online has been officially delayed, in a sense, and will arrive at a later date. As seen in the report, Rockstar has described the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 as a “single-player experience,” essentially confirming that the online mode will not be released on November 19 with the rest of the game. This means that the multiplayer mode may be released later on, perhaps as an update to the title or as another title entirely – this, of course, has yet to be confirmed.

Even so, this is confirmation that players will not be able to dive straight into multiplayer mayhem, which was one of the strongest features that contributed to the longevity of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5. Even so, players will soon be able to experience the single-player mode of the game. The pre-orders for GTA 6 go live on June 25, which will allow fans to guarantee their copy of the game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. The PC version will be released later, too.

There will be two versions of the game: Standard and Ultimate. The Standard edition will cost $79.99, while the Ultimate edition is priced at $99.99. The Ultimate edition comes with additional in-game bonuses. Regardless of the edition you purchase, if you do so before November 20, you’ll have access to pre-order bonuses. A week before the game’s release, you’ll gain access to the pre-load period of GTA 6, which will essentially enable you to start playing it as soon as it arrives on November 19.

Even though the exact release date for GTA 6 Online is unclear, this Wednesday was packed with information about the single-player version of the game. In addition to everything that was already mentioned, Rockstar dropped tons of teasers for GTA 6, including brand-new images and snippets of the pre-order and Ultimate bonuses. This all highlights just how big the game will be.

This is likely one of the most anticipated games ever, and a lot of that is due to the success and longevity of GTA 5 and all it had to offer over more than a decade. Grand Theft Auto 6 feels more real than ever before, and even though we’ll have to wait for the online mode, the title will certainly keep players occupied for dozens of hours, if its predecessor serves as an example.
