Solomon has announced a June 19 show at Pacha New York that’s special for several reasons: It will be the famed artist’s first performance at the new venue, which will host its preview weekend starting Saturday (June 13) in Brooklyn; it will be a show played especially for all the fans who stood in the pouring rain for his performance at New York’s Fulton Fish Market and Knockdown Center in May; it will be free and it will find Solomon bending his own rules to make it happen.

“Too many coincidences. Too many unexpected turns. Too many things falling into place at exactly the right moment,” the artist wrote Thursday (June 11) on social media. “Of course I knew about the plans around Pacha New York. And yes, I was asked if I wanted to be part of it. Under different circumstances, I probably would have said yes without thinking twice. Pacha has been part of my life for fourteen years. But the only possible date fell right in the middle of my Ibiza season.

“I held that rule for over ten years. I never questioned it,” he continued. “Once the summer starts, I stay in Europe. No long-haul flights, no jumping between time zones. It is a rhythm that has worked for me for a very long time. So my answer was no. But they kept that Friday open anyway. No booking, no backup plan. Just hope. And then the Bronx wrote the story in a way nobody could have expected.

“Thousands of you. 50 degrees, soaking wet, and not one of you moved. The energy never dropped. And then five hours more together at Knockdown Center, announced with almost no warning, and every single one of you showed up. That was just crazy. I kept thinking about it. And at some point I asked myself: who am I to stay inside my comfort zone, when all of you left yours for me? So I’m doing it. For the first time, I’m stepping out. I’m coming back to New York to open Pacha.”

The show will happen Friday, June 19, the first night of the new club’s official opening weekend. Access will be offered through a registration lottery to those who attended the Fulton Fish Market show and the Knockdown Center afterparty, with a registration link being provided via to this crowd via email. (As Solomon notes in his announcement, not everyone able to register will receive tickets, given that the capacity at Pacha is smaller than Fulton Fish Market and Knockdown Center.) VIP tables for the show are also available for purchase.

As Solomon references, the show is especially meaningful given his longstanding relationship to Pacha Ibiza, where’s held down a fabled residency for the last 14 seasons. This +1 residency, which features a special guest every week, is happening now through early October. Guests over the season will include Idris Elba, Skrillex, Peggy Gou, Jamie xx, Max Styler, Barry Can’t Swim, Anyma and Dixon.
