Lil Wayne is victorious in the lawsuit filed against him by a former security guard who alleged the rapper pulled a gun on him. Now the guard must pay up, to the tune of nearly $30,000.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered Lil Wayne’s former security guard, Christian Carlos, to pay the rapper $29,225 plus legal fees after their lawsuit was dismissed. The lawsuit, filed in December 2023, claimed that Lil Wayne pointed a semiautomatic rifle at Carlos and punched him in the ear during an incident at the rapper’s California home in 2021.
On Wednesday, the judge signed a ruling that Carlos and his lawyer are jointly liable for the monetary sanctions and legal costs, months after the court terminated sanctions after the plaintiff and his lawyer repeatedly disobeyed orders. Ultimately, the judge threw out the case—cancelling a trial that was scheduled for August—over non-compliance, citing instances in which Carlos and his lawyer “willfully refused” to comply with three discovery orders over a 10-month period.
“The court is granting terminating sanctions because plaintiff willfully refused to comply with three discovery orders over nearly ten months, made affirmative misrepresentations to the court about compliance, and has still provided no responses as of April 21, 2026,” the judge wrote.
Lil Wayne denied the allegations against him from the beginning. According to the rapper’s attorney, Ashlee Difuntorum, Carlos failed to provide “basic information” and documents relating to the alleged incident and injuries he claimed to have sustained.
Carlos’ lawsuit said that in addition to injuries from the alleged assault and battery, he also suffered emotional distress, which required him to seek mental health treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). As a result, Carlos claimed he had accrued medical expenses and had lost both wages and earning capacity.
