The "King of Horror" is known for his five-decade career as an author with more than 60 novels and 200 short stories, with over 400 million copies of his work sold worldwide. Beginning as an English teacher in high school, King wrote in his spare time until 1974, when he published his first novel, Carrie. Since Carrie, he has been able to write full-time and has many notable novels, including The Shining, It, Misery, and The Green Mile.

In a post on X, the acclaimed author shared his thoughts on a recent adaptation of his most popular novel, It. The prequel series It: Welcome to Derry has certainly made an impression, especially on King, who is proclaiming that the series deserves Emmy recognition. This comes after King gave a glowing stamp of approval to the adaptation, as he was a sounding board for the creators of the TV series. The author shared why this series deserves Emmy recognition:

"Hey, Constant Readers and Television Academy voters: Emmy voting is in full swing, but the window closes this Monday, June 22nd.

If you haven't been back to Derry lately, check out this video of clips and what the critics are saying. They're raving, and for good reason—the cast and crew did a spectacular job bringing the old town to life. (And yes, it's scary as hell.)

It: Welcome to Derry is a majorly successful horror series for HBO and was the third-largest debut season in the history of HBO Max. Already renewed for a second season, the show averaged around 20 million viewers globally with 11.5 million viewers in the U.S. per episode.

The series revives Bill Skarsgård as the horrific Pennywise the Clown, and is set before Andy Muschietti's movie adaptation of King's novel. It: Welcome to Derry has an impressive 80% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes for the eight-episode season.

HBO revealed that Andy and Barbara Muschietti are already working on the series, which will be a reverse-chronological anthology. Season 2 is said to go back to 1935 and follow the Bradley Gang massacre. Each season explores the horrors of Derry during Pennywise's 27-year cycle. Muschietti has revealed a three-season arc for the series which also includes 1908 with a steel mill explosion. Skarsgård will be returning as Pennywise.

HBO is hoping for recognition from the Emmys for It: Welcome to Derry, which has been submitted for 34 categories, including Best Drama Series.
