Consisting of four mainline entries, multiple spin-offs, a standalone expansion, and even a live-action movie which we pretend did not happen, the Uncharted franchise has been a constant companion for gamers since the first title, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, released back in 2007.

With the Naughty Dog franchise quickly approaching its 20th anniversary, fans are still eager to learn if the saga will ever be continued with a potential Uncharted 5. However, with the most recent entry, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, suggesting the finale of the beloved series, and with Naughty Dog focusing more on The Last of Us as well as its upcoming IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, it seems as though the Uncharted franchise has well and truly taken a backseat.

However, with some rumors suggesting that Uncharted 5 could be on the docket for Naughty Dog, only time will tell if we will welcome the return of Nathan Drake, or perhaps somebody else stepping into his adventuring shoes. That being said, there is no denying that Naughty Dog will have a lot to live up to following the success of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which we rated quite highly in our 'Every Uncharted Game, Ranked' list back in 2021.

"The biggest strength of Uncharted 4 is the depth at which it portrays its characters," the post reads. The relationship between Nathan Drake and his wife Elena Fisher (a decidedly not-so-perfect couple) is noticeably more nuanced than it was in previous entries.

A Thief's End succeeds where its predecessor fell short in creating truly open gameplay sections. This is due in large part thanks to the introduction of driving mechanics, which allow the player to explore large swaths of land, emphasizing Drake's role as an adventurer. The driving mechanics also help the game have some of the best action sequences in the entire Uncharted series."

Well, if you loved Uncharted 4: A Thief's End as much as us, you will be pleased to hear that you can get your hands on some free Uncharted avatars courtesy of PlayStation. Released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of A Thief's End, the avatars can be downloaded by entering the following codes into the PS Store:

The avatars feature some memorable items from the Uncharted franchise, and will be the perfect way to commemorate the series ahead of its 20th anniversary next year. Hopefully, it will be during the celebrations that Naughty Dog will finally shed some light on a potential Uncharted 5...
