First airing back in 2022 and taking Netflix by storm, the Cyberpunk 2077-inspired anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, has left fans with a lot of happy memories, and outright trauma.

Set in Night City, yet following a new bunch of characters as opposed to the ones we know and love from Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows streetkid David Martinez who gets to grips with both the criminal underbelly of the city, and the growing need for cybernetic enhancements. Joined by a group of other misfits known as Edgerunners, the mercenary gang face threats from all over the city, as well as the looming figure of Adam Smasher himself.

As mentioned, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was an instant hit, receiving critical acclaim and receiving praise for its writing, characters, action, animation, music and worldbuilding. As such, it was soon greenlit for a second season, which is currently in development at Studio Trigger. However, with the upcoming season expected to be a brand-new standalone story, some fans were left feeling disappointed that we would never see more of the Edgerunner crew, especially as David and Lucy's story had far from a happy ending.

Luckily, it is not all doom and gloom as a recent collaboration between CD Projekt RED and Kuro Games saw fans receive some more time with some of their favorite Edgerunner's characters in hit gacha game Wuthering Waves.

The collaboration kicked off earlier this month, and allowed Wuthering Waves' fans to experience the world of Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in-game. As such, characters such as Lucy and Rebecca were added to the roster as playable characters, and by following the brand-new story, players would stumble across the ending we all deserved as Lucy and David were reunited on the moon.

The scene, which saw Lucy run into David's arms, overlooked by Rebecca, has left Cyberpunk: Edgerunners fans in a pool of tears, but with praise for the Wuthering Waves x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration as a whole, said fans recently took to YouTube to share their thoughts.

"Cyberpunk : Edgerunners episode 11," the top comment read, adding to the fact that many fans are choosing to believe that this is the 11th episode of the show we all deserved. Another agreed, adding, "Genuinely thanks Kuro for making a closure for this series."

"After this collab, I will never be able to look at a collab the same again," another comment read. "The peak a collab can reach is incredible."

With some calling it the best collaboration in gaming history, whilst others agree that it could very much be an official episode of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, it seems as though it will be remembered for a long time, and for all the right reasons.
