David Letterman is set to make his debut at the Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival next month alongside Canadian funnyman Will Arnett.

The former Late Night and Late Show With David Letterman host will interview Arnett as part of his  “An Evening with David Letterman and Special Guest…” series taking place at the Place des Arts concert hall on July 21.

His first-ever Montreal festival appearance follows Letterman in Feb. 2026 returning to perform in Canada for the first time in 48 years with a Just For Laughs Vancouver festival premiere where he interviewed guest star Zach Galifianakis. Before that, Letterman last did a stand-up routine in Canada before an interview on the variety show 90 Minutes Live in February 1978 on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., the country’s public broadcaster.

Letterman will get back on the road in Montreal after his My Next Guest Needs No Introduction series on Netflix got the comedy star into the host’s chair following a 33-year TV run that made him the longest-running late night broadcaster in U.S. television. His guests on the streaming show have included Barack Obama, Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jay-Z, Robert Downey Jr., Volodymyr Zelensky, Dave Chappelle, Miley Cyrus, Caitlin Clark, Billie Eilish and Adam Sandler.

In Montreal, Arnett is expected to talk to Letterman about his star turn in Bradley Cooper’s feature Is This Thing On?, which he co-wrote and stars in alongside Laura Dern as a stand up comic going on comedy club stages for divorce therapy and a journey of self-discovery.

“David Letterman and Will Arnett are two of the most celebrated voices in entertainment, whose influence on comedy, television, film, and popular culture is undeniable. To welcome them together to Montreal for this special one-night only event is an incredible opportunity for our audiences and exactly the kind of unique, can’t-miss experience that we strive to provide at the festival,” Nick Brazao, vp of programming and talent at Just For Laughs, said in a statement.

The Just For Laughs 2026 festival in Montreal earlier announced appearances by Jerry Seinfeld, Weird Al Yankovic, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Atsuko Okatsuka, Gerry Dee, Lucy Darling, Joel Kim Booster and Mae Martin.
